Building a family retreat around the existing trees on a lot requires both sensible and innovative design that combines nature with smart architecture. was designed by MODO Designs to accomplish precisely that as the open pavilion-style structure weaves its way through large need amla and chikoo trees on the lot.
One can see the rear balcony and the panoramic view beyond even from the entry as an open common space creates the heart of the home. Surrounded by large redwood trees and a relaxing garden the focus here remains firmly on the landscape outside!
On the inside it is cement blocks that set the ambiance with some painted in bright red and others left exposed. A gorgeous and striking kitchen island in red and an equally dramatic staircase in bright yellow bring even more color indoors.
Adding to this rich sense of diversity is the large natural rock wall around the courtyard that is laced with tropical plants. A custom irrigation system is used to water this unique living wall that shields the home from prying eyes while providing a tinge of green to the polished residence.
