And if you have a yard deck and pool like the in Mexico then the holiday at home seems magical as well! Designed by Augusto Quijano Arquitectos the refined contemporary residence was crafted for a couple whose kids no longer lived at home.
The entrance from the street leads to the first floor that contains the public spaces with the kitchen and dining at the heart of it all. This also ensures that it is the living area and sitting room on the peripheral that get the best views on offer while the ground floor holds the bedrooms and other private zones.
Designed by MODO Designs the structure of this pavilion-style retreat is divided into two sections with the front façade holding the public spaces and the more sheltered rear edifice containing the bedrooms and the bathrooms.
Designed by IF_DO it is the pitched roof the new extension that gives it a touch of traditional charm even as beautiful use of skylights brings in a flood of natural light. The rear addition acts as a transition zone or sorts between the existing home and the garden while offering an unabated window into the sights and sounds outside.
Adding to this rich sense of diversity is the large natural rock wall around the courtyard that is laced with tropical plants. A custom irrigation system is used to water this unique living wall that shields the home from prying eyes while providing a tinge of green to the polished residence.
Adaptive reuse and smart extensions have largely replaced home transformations that involve replacing existing structures with entirely new buildings. Apart from saving time energy and resources this also preserves a sense of history and nostalgia.
A charming little house with a calming gray interior is made magical by a really low white picket fence. The functionality of the fence is not a priority in this case – it’s all about the strong decorative value! Picket fences have been around for decades growing in popularity with each year. Seeing an old-fashioned house with such a fence shouldn’t be a surprise but we’re still stunned about how much fresher a setting looks like all because of a white fence!
