The Elite 8 Prospects
On Sept. 20 the KSC hosted it’s first South Shore College showcase. Players from all over the area provided scouts and coaches with competitive, high-energy basketball. 37 prospective players, grades 9-12, from around the area (including a few from Western Mass) were on display. These are the Elite 8 players that drew the most attention...
Brendan Woodard (Mahar Regional) 6’1 – 170 lbs.- Is a long, athletic, smooth PG. Strong going to his left, he sees the court well in transition. He needs to work on dribble moves to his right and needs to find more consistency in his jump shot.
Ben Mclarey (Scituate High School) 6’5 – 250 lbs.- A solid DIII prospect with a great nose for the ball. He can score inside with good touch and footwork, and can also knock down a 15 footer. Ben is clearly a team first guy with great energy and effort on the court which make him highly recruitable.
Brendan Butler (Weymouth High School) 6’4 – 210 lbs.- Is a versatile player, long and athletic he can defend post players while also leading a fast break. He has an awkward release but is more than capable of hitting an outside shot. Look for him to develop as the season moves along.
Ryan Jones (Weymouth High School) 6’2 – 214 lbs.- Always a great rebounder, he has developed better ball handling skills and has really improved his shooting. Lateral quickness will need to improve moving forward.
Josh O’Neill (Silver Lake) 5’7 – 160 lbs.- A heady PG who isn’t flashy but always has a solid stat line at the end of the day. He is strong for his size, has good quickness, and a nice shot with some range.
Tyrone Jackson (North Attleboro High School) 5’10 – 167 lbs.- Has good size and quick hands with ball handling skills. He is more comfortable in the open floor than in the halfcourt. His overall court vision is solid, but his jump shot needs to become more consistent.
Jordan Aylesworth (Scituate High School) 5’11 – 160 lbs.- The best underclassmen at the event. He is a hard worker and team guy. He is better in transition right now running the break, but he will need to develop PG skills in the next couple of years and go stronger to his right. The intangibles and potential are all there for Jordan.
Pat Gill (BC High) 6’3 – 192 lbs.- Is an athletic wing player with size and length. He is a consistent spot up shooter, solid rebounder, and shows good fundamentals. He is also a good on ball defender who gets into passing lanes.
