Cardinal Spellman's Joey Glynn commits to Bentley
Press Release from the Middlesex Magic
Glynn emerged onto the recruiting scene last spring and summer by
leading the Magic’s 11th grade team in scoring and rebounding as they
took a pair of spring titles and continued to play well deep into the
month of July, scoring wins over the likes of Terry Porter Elite,
Grassroots Canada, and Hoop Heaven Elite before heading to Orlando.
“Joey Glynn is as tough a competitor and as versatile an athlete as
we have had in the Middlesex Magic program,” said Magic director Michael
Crotty Jr. “He is a tremendous rebounder on both ends of the floor, and
his athleticism allows him to be a lock down defender on forwards and
guards. He can score the ball in a variety of different ways, and when
he has an advantage situation he finishes powerfully high above the
rim.”
Glynn has also distinguished himself on the high school circuit.
Last year he averaged over 20 points and 10 rebounds per game while
leading Cardinal Spellman to the Division III South sectional title and
being selected to the Boston Herald All-Scholastic team in the process.
He becomes the third member of last summer’s Magic squad to commit
to an NE-10 program, joining Connor Mahoney (Le Moyne) and Anthony Barry
(Merrimack), and the 8th member to make his college commitment thus
far, joining Kyle Reardon (Rochester), Cooper Ainge (BYU), Eric Olson
(Northwestern/football), Jesse Pagliuca (Amherst), and Mike Thorpe
(Emerson).
New Mission's Tianna Johnson commits to Hampton
Press Release
Tianna Johnson of New Mission accepted an offer from D1 Hampton University. She chose the Historically Black University for their graphic design program and small school setting similiar to that of New Mission. Hampton has been to the NCAA tournament quite a few times and she fell in love with the campus. Tianna averaged 22 ppg 6 assists 6 steals for New Mission last year en route to a state final appearance.
"When I left D-1 Brockton to go to D4 New Mission, people said I couldnt achieve my dream of playing division one college ball, but it doesn't matter what school you go to , college coaches are smart, they will find you where ever you are," said Tianna.
Congratulations to Tianna and to New Mission High School.
Beantownhoops.com Boys and Girls Off-Season Recruiting Reports
This past off-season Beantownhoops.com started its player evaluations in hopes of helping start the recruiting process for boys and girls players in the state. What we found in the showcases we help set up was an array of talented players who have gone unnoticed along with players who are already being recruited by colleges at all levels.
Our 2011 reports include players that we have seen last season and this off-season. We do recruiting reports for everyone and not just a select few players at our showcases. In addition, we rank the players in different categories according to how they played at the events. We will publish three recruiting reports a year in May, August, and December.
Understanding "Playing Level Potential"
As you will see on each players profile, we give a playing level we feel the player could play at this point in their high school career. We do not distinguish between each level (for example, High DI or Low DI) and players that are still in the process of developing their skills we consider in the "Developing" category. We are also truthful about our evaluations and have not doctored our reports for any players.
